The Archives and Central Services Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is accepting applications for an Assistant Clerk (salary range 9). This position is grant-funded for a minimum of three years. Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for the archival preservation of all permanent documents of the ACS. The position requires training and knowledge of court documents as well as indexing and digital retrieval processes. Regular job duties will include the following: Receive boxes of case files from statewide court locations; inventory case files by court location and case type; Prepare case files and papers for scanning and microfilming; identify permanent from non-permanent documents; mend torn pages and create target sheets; Operate computer to index data, adding case files and audio media to inventory; Conduct box audits of all cases scanned as a quality control device; compare index sheets to case files in each box; Evaluate confidential boxes in preparation for final disposition and destruction; Make audio duplicates upon request; Maintain logs and reports to document individual production and reporting of individual time. Lift items weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis. Spend significant time preparing case files for archiving to meet production schedules. The Work Hours Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. Work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate AND six months of general clerical or customer service work experience. Substitution: Additional qualifying work experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. A bachelor's degree may substitute for the required six months of general clerical or customer service work experience; or completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as business college may be substituted for the required six months of general clerical or customer service work experience on a month-for-month basis.
