With a small and dedicated team, we offer significant opportunities for growth. We are service oriented, with a start-up mindset, and are looking for an intern who can pivot and adapt quickly without being micro-managed.We have a limited menu, focused on one thing: kava. We do not serve food, and we dont carry a lot of other inventory.The Role:We're introducing kava - a traditional non-intoxicating, relaxing beverage from the South Pacific to western consumers, creating spaces to enjoy kava's benefits, and building community around this magical plant. We currently have 2 locations and are opening a third with plans in motion for rapid expansion over the next 5 years, and are seeking a Marketing Coordinator - Intern to develop campaigns for our current and future needs.We are looking for a creative and experienced Marketing Coordinator - Intern to help our marketing team and bring awareness to our brand. If you have experience in developing engaging marketing strategies, managing teams, and ensuring our marketing efforts match our business goals, we want to hear from you!What You Bring:You excel at multitasking. Youre eager to take ownership of various responsibilities that involve marketing, including but not limited to: content creation and scheduling, ensuring branding, creation of newsletters, creation and launching of marketing campaigns, management of SMS and Email distribution, and growing the MeloMelo brand. You work well in a social environment where you contribute to the experiences of our clients. Most importantly, you can connect and engage with our community and enjoy yourself while giving excellent service.Key Responsibilities:Work with us to develop our marketing strategies in a way that is scalable as we grow into new markets, both in our kava bars and with our retail products. This will include:1. Content SchedulingSource and create content from the main marketing folder.Schedule 4-7 posts per week across active social media channels using Metricool.Schedule recurring posts for recurring events (Monday Open Mic, Tidal Tuesday, Whirlpool Wednesday, Tanoa Thursday, and weekend DJ/Live Music).Set up reminder posts or stories for larger, non-recurring events (e.g., themed events) at least 72 hours before the event to boost attendance; reminders are not necessary for recurring events.Post digital posters 48 hours ahead of most events to promote timely awareness.Content breakdown:Reels (2x/week): 15-30 second videos of events (e.g., music nights, art events) with kava facts.Posts (1x/week): Educational content on kava, highlighting in-house ingredient preparation.Stories (2x/week): Quick event promos with a call-to-action (CTA) to drive attendance.Use video content 90% of the time, focusing on events, community, people, and kava education.2. Content Quality and Consistent BrandingEnsure posts align with brand standards, emphasizing authenticity and community.Digitally alter raw content (e.g., adjust lighting, add filters, overlays, or text) to appeal to the target audience and create a cohesive brand narrative that resonates with customers, highlighting the kava bars authentic, community-focused experience.Help create content that aligns with campaign goals, ensuring it supports the overall marketing strategy.Review content for accuracy, engagement, and narrative consistency before posting.Make content that is location-specific; for example, Oakland likes artists, so cater to that. Showcase notable landmarks in videos and content.3. NewslettersCreate targeted and engaging newsletters with specific objectives (e.g., event promotion, kava education, or customer retention).Develop newsletters with strategy and substance, ensuring alignment with the kava bars branding and campaign goals.Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and Event Coordinator to outline and highlight key events that support marketing campaign objectives.Complete newsletters one week prior to the beginning of the month for timely distribution.4. SMS and Email MarketingCreate offers and messaging via SMS and email to communicate key events and promotions that drive sales growth and ticket growth using TOAST.Post SMS and email campaigns 48 hours ahead of most events to maximize engagement.Coordinate with the entire team (Event Coordinators, Marketing Manager, and other relevant staff) to develop a strategy for each campaign, ensuring alignment with campaign goals and brand narrative.5. EngagementComment on or like 5 posts daily per platform from customer or local accounts, prioritizing video content.Focus engagement on building trust and awareness of events and kava authenticity.6.
