Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Safety and Training Specialist will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Safety and Health program as well as the training plan. This position requires the application of strong leadership and influence to ensure the effectiveness of the safety program by demonstrating a high level of accountability and ownership. This position is required to manage and maintain the safety program while engaging with all key stakeholders. This position, in conjunction with plant leadership, will develop, maintain, audit, and continuously improve the safety program


ESSSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Possess extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety standards while serving as the primary regulatory liaison for relevant agencies
• Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety and Health Program in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Collaborate with management to develop training objectives that align with organizational goals.
• Write training programs, including detailed outlines, instructional materials, handouts, and assessment exercises.
• Develops and implements an annual training plan for all departments
• Maintain a comprehensive training matrix for all employees, contractors, and visitors for documented qualifications and expirations
• Function as the Administrator of Learning Management System overseeing the requirements for Plant Specific Regulatory Training.
• Develops and provides orientation programs for contractor and new hire Orientation.
• Schedules training sessions to ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements.
• Deliver formal lectures on safety and training topics to ensure compliance and comprehension of audience.

Observes classroom trainees and address their inquiries effectively.
• Administer both written and practical exams and prepare detailed performance reports to evaluate trainees' progress.
• Conduct regular observations and provide coaching to enhance performance
• Adheres to placement and filing of OSHA Logs as well as tracking and maintaining KPIs
• Actively participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain relevant information for the training program and integrates information into existing training programs.
• Collaborate with management to develop required drills, audits, reports, physicals, and required reporting protocols.
• Works with supervisors identifying plant hazards, assisting in JSA’s, root cause analysis implementation, and required PPE.
• Lead investigations pertaining to accidents, near-misses, and safety-related issues
• Serve as the leader with first Line Supervision in Incident reporting, near miss reporting, accident reporting and follow – up actions.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.


JOB REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS)
• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from an accredited four-year college or university; accompanied by two to three years of relevant experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• A minimum of two years experience in oil, gas, mining, power plant or equivalent operations.
• Ability to lead and influence teams to cultivate a positive and sustainable safety culture
• Proficient computer skills including familiarity with various software applications such as Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Power Point, Access, Taproot, etc.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as an overall integral Company team member.
• Ability to handle quick changing situations under stress, including willingness to work extended hours on short notice when required.
• Competence in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Capable of delivering information effectively and responding to inquiries from groups and management.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Proficient in addressing practical problems and managing a range of concrete variables in scenarios where standardizations are limited. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Successfully complete pre-employment physical exam, which includes drug and alcohol testing, as well as a thorough background check.
