POSITION SUMMARY:

This position serves as a Teacher for a Head Start classroom with a direct focus on children 3 to 4 years of age. The teacher will work collaboratively with one other Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total ofchildren. The teacher also works with a team of other teachers, family advocate and family members to implement the curriculum to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities. Teachers are expected to utilize a working knowledge of the principles of child growth and development to work with children and collaborate with related service areas. This work is right for you if you have:

• An interest in the well-being and education of young children, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit
• At least 2 years of early childhood experience
• The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
• An AA degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or a related field from an accredited college or university
• Your 90 hour child care certification and 9 hours in communication
• Your Child Development Associate certificate (preferred)
